Field Trip to the SF Zoo

You know, when I was younger, I would ALWAYS look forward to going to a field trip. I mean, anything to get me out of school was awesome! I’d recall the teachers always being particularly strict and uptight, lecturing us about being on our best behavior and sticking together. I thought they were just kill-joys.

Now I’m the teacher (er…Team Lead, to be precise) and it all makes sense now. There is A LOT of stress in keeping track of all the students…I mean, it’s not like you can lose a few students, having 97 out of 100 kids accounted for, and still call it a good day. Having 97/100 is not an A, it’s an disaster. You lose track of just ONE student and it’s overs.

So we went to the zoo. Why do students go to the zoo? I mean, what do they need to know about animals? Really, the reason is to spend time with the kids on an outing. Education? Well, I know some of my kids learned a few neat facts about the animals. For example, ask one of them what a meerkat’s diet consists of! Still, the point is mostly to have an enjoy the (fortunately) nice and sunny day.

Anyways, the trip was a BLAST! The kids seemed to really enjoy it! The monkeys are always a hit with the kids…of course, then you have the kids imitating the monkey…God forbid they begin throwing things at you, again, imitating the monkey.
